The Oball Shaker costs $5. It works from birth. Every baby we’ve observed can grip it within the first few weeks of life. The open-hole design means that even the reflexive palmar grasp of a newborn can catch and hold the ball. As grasping becomes intentional (3-5 months), the Oball’s openings provide easy finger insertion points. The rattle beads add auditory cause-and-effect. It’s dishwasher-safe, BPA-free, and essentially indestructible.

This is not a glamorous review. But this is one of the most useful baby products we’ve tested.
