Independent Research-Based Reviews of Children's Products

Terms of Service

Last updated: March 30, 2026

By using ScienceBasedKids.com, you agree to these terms. We’ve written them in plain English because we think you should actually be able to read the terms you’re agreeing to.

What We Are (and Aren’t)

ScienceBasedKids.com publishes reviews, ratings, and educational content about children’s products. Everything on this site is informational content, not professional advice. We are reviewers and writers, not product certifiers, medical professionals, or safety engineers.

Our reviews represent our team’s opinions based on our published evaluation methodology. We work hard to be thorough and accurate, but:

  • Product specifications, safety certifications, pricing, and availability change. What was true when we published a review may not be true when you read it.
  • We are not product guarantors. A positive review is our assessment at the time of testing. It is not a warranty, guarantee, or certification of any kind.
  • Safety information is advisory. When our team discusses safety considerations, that information is meant to be helpful context — not a substitute for checking current safety data yourself. Always verify current recall and safety information with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the product manufacturer directly.

ScienceBasedKids.com earns revenue through affiliate commissions. When you click a link to a retailer (like Amazon) and make a purchase, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Here’s what matters: affiliate commissions do not influence our ratings or recommendations. We rate products before we set up affiliate links. We publish negative reviews. We recommend against products that would earn us commissions. Our full methodology is published at /methodology/ so you can see exactly how we evaluate products.

We disclose affiliate relationships on every page that contains affiliate links, at the top of the page, before the first link. This exceeds FTC requirements because we think transparency builds trust.

Our Content and Yours

Our intellectual property

All original content on ScienceBasedKids.com — including reviews, articles, ratings, graphics, and our evaluation methodology — is copyrighted.

You’re welcome to:

  • Quote short excerpts (a sentence or two) with clear attribution and a link back to the original article
  • Share links to our content on social media, forums, or anywhere else

You may not:

  • Republish full articles or substantial portions without our written permission
  • Scrape our content for use on other sites, in AI training datasets, or in any automated system
  • Present our content as your own

If you’d like to republish, syndicate, or license our content, reach out to us and we’ll work something out.

User-generated content

We don’t currently have comments, forums, or other user-generated content features. If we add them in the future, standard conduct rules will apply: be respectful, stay on topic, no spam, no harassment, no content that’s illegal or harmful. We’ll reserve the right to moderate or remove content that doesn’t meet those standards.

Limitation of Liability

ScienceBasedKids.com and its team members are not liable for any damages arising from your use of this site or your reliance on our content. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Purchasing decisions made based on our reviews
  • Product performance that differs from our assessment
  • Changes in product safety status after our review was published
  • Third-party sites you visit through our links
  • Errors or omissions in our content

We do our best to be accurate and helpful. But this is a review and information site, and you use it at your own discretion. When making purchasing decisions — especially for products used by children — we always recommend doing your own research alongside reading our reviews.

Product Safety — A Note for Parents

We take safety seriously. When our team flags a safety concern, we mean it. But safety information changes: products get recalled, standards get updated, manufacturers change materials and designs.

Always check current safety information before purchasing. The CPSC maintains an up-to-date database of recalls and safety notices. Manufacturer websites list current certifications and specifications. Our reviews are one input into your decision — they shouldn’t be the only one.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
